If you would to find out more, simply click here <OPEN DAY>

LAWN COMMUNITY CENTRE  will be CLOSED  from Monday 17th August until Sunday 23rd August for maintenance.

During this period, we will be upgrading our room heating system, undertaking essential maintenance and giving the whole place a late spring clean. If you would like to help us, please come along and join our happy band of volunteers from 09:30 until 17:00 each day. We are always grateful for any help in keeping our local Centre in tiptop condition for you all to enjoy.

CAR PARK CLEANUP

A huge thank you to Mary Fishlock and "Garth's Gorgeous Gardeners" for a massive car park clean up, one again on Monday morning.

There is more to do, so if you would like to come along and join the merry team (coffee & biscuits are provided!), please give us a ring on 01793 651806 to find out when the next effort will take place.

Following our clean up of the car park, which incidentally is the local council's and not the Lawn Centre, the parking lines have now also been repainted. Now that's a result we weren't expecting!

OUR CHARITIES for 2026

This year the Lawn Community association has nominated two charities to benefit from our donations.

1. The "RICHARD JEFFRIES MUSEUM new Centre for Arts & Wildlife" - 'A registered charity at Coate Water, Swindon; birthplace of Richard Jeffries. They are seeking funds to provide a centre for young people (also the not-so-young) to receive benefit from the  life-restoring nature around.

Please visit their website for information on the new project by clicking on here-> "RJM PROJECT"

2.  "DEBRA" - offering support, guidance and care to those suffering from the inherited condition called epidermolysis bullosa (EB); often known as "Butterfly Skin"

To find out more about "EB", please click on here ->"DEBRA" and consider supporting them at their charity shop on Victoria Road, Swindon.

These revised rates have been published on our Room Hire page. Click here -> "ROOM HIRE"

LCA CHAIR  - Supporting Our Future Together

At our 2025 AGM, member were informed that we're yet to appoint a new Chair for The lawn Community Association. In light of this, the Trustees are exploring ways to expand our search beyond the usual eligibility criteria. Currently, the Chair must be an  elected Trustee and a resident, Full Member, living within the 'LCA Area of Benefit'. To provide more flexibility in future recruitment, we're proposing a constitutional amendment to be voted on at the 2026 AGM.

Here's what's changing: A temporary exemption may be made to the residency rule just for the Chairs' role (Executive Officer Eligibility Clause (6.1) should no local candidate be found after thorough efforts. The appointed individual must live within reasonable travel distance, become an Associate Member, support the LCA values, and be able to attend meetings and events in person. Even if a local candidate comes forward before 2026, we believe this change will ensure stronger continuity for our leadership going forward.

We'd love to hear from you! And if you (or someone you know) might be interested in the role, please contact the LCA Secretary using the usual channels. Let's keep growing together - stronger, connected and community-led.
